Swamp Tour

My friends and I took a swamp tour organized by OISS (Office of International Students and Scholars) in late September. It was a beautiful day with a blue sky and gentle breeze. When our shuttle arrived at the swamp we boarded a boat for a two hour tour of the bayou. There, you can get up close and personal with alligators, herons and other native animals. As we floated lazily on the river, the small alligators swam around our boat. We were allowed to feed the alligators their “favorite snack”—marshmallows. During the wonderful tour, our captain also introduced us to the beautiful plants along the river and told us the story of Katrina. It was a very interesting trip, and we learned so much more about New Orleans. Spending the afternoon with friends on a swamp tour is a really relaxing and educational thing to do in New Orleans.
