President and CEO of Newpark Resources, Paul Howes, Speaks to Energy Students on the Importance of Maintaining a Focused Strategy Through the Down Cycle

On April 11, 2017, Paul Howes, President and Chief Executive Officer of Newpark Resources, spoke to students in the Master of Management in Energy (MME) program.  Mr. Howes lectured the students on Newpark Resources’ strategic drivers such as differentiation through technology, customer service and support, and international expansion.  He also talked about the critical elements of strategy execution in a down cycle.  Mr. Howes provided the students with valuable insight into how an oilfield service company can differentiate itself in the market and sustain shareholder value through a low-price environment.

Newpark Resources is an oilfield service company, specializing in fluids systems and mats and integrated services.  The company has customer markets in the oil and gas industry as well as a recent expansion into the utilities market.  Newpark Resources operates a global business, with key geographic markets in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and the Asia Pacific regions.

Mr. Howes has been the President and CEO of Newpark Resources since 2006.  His extensive career includes experience in the defense industry, chemicals and plastics manufacturing, and the packaging industry.  As well as being President and CEO of Newpark Resources, Mr. Howes is actively engaged in energy industry trade associations.  He holds the Chairman position on the General Membership Committee for the American Petroleum Institute (API), and is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA).
