Although we are only about one-third through the academic year, we are well into the job recruiting season, and if you are still in a searching mode or are weighing various opportunities, you should attend one of our Career Roundtable sessions that will begin next week.
The Career Management Center has set aside twenty forty-five minute Roundtable discussions wherein groups of up to ten students will be able to discuss their experiences to date managing their career options with one or two Career Counselors and Edmund Hughes.
These sessions are absolutely voluntary and designed to make sure your efforts are on track, in order to avoid unnecessary frustration and disappointment. There is no doubt that world economic conditions have made the job seeking process more challenging then in the past.
In the Wall Street community, there have been an estimated 40,000 layoffs to date and the ripple effect through the economy is affecting companies in just about every industry. Even the energy industry is feeling the effects of tighter credit and softer demand for their products; however, to a much lesser extent.
Edmund Hughes, the CMC Director, says: “The sessions, are specific to degrees, MBA Second Year, MFIN, and MACC, but toward the end, several sessions are open to all groups. They are intended to assure we and you are pro-active in all efforts on your behalf. Please, avail yourself of this opportunity and be prepared to update your experiences and table your frustrations.
