With my first week of graduate school done I was excited for the prospect of what the weekend might bring. Despite the impressive amount of reading I had due the next week, I was looking forward to exploring New Orleans. Not knowing many people in the MACCT program or the Freeman School, I decided that the opening Freeman social at Rockin’ Bowl might be a good place for me to meet people. Having had several college friends from NOLA tell me that Rockin’ Bowl was actually a cool place to go and not your typical bowling alley, I was interested to see what all the hype was about. Considering I hadn’t been bowling since probably elementary school, my expectations were not all too high. However, when I arrived at the social, I was pleased to see that the venue was packed with Freeman students and alumni and was definitely not your typical bowling ally. With an open bar, a band, a buffet of creole cuisine, and unlimited bowling, the event was definitely a success. The social was the perfect place for meeting fellow students and networking with alumni. As a new student, I felt very welcome and thought it was a great way to kick of the new school year.
