Patrick Foran – Director of Graduate Admissions

I think of myself as a marketing-business person who works at business schools because I enjoy assisting people in reaching their career goals.  Prior to working for universities I had some interesting and diverse jobs: In the US Coast Guard I was a navigator on a buoytender, a waterways planner and got to serve TDY to the Navy for a few months in the Arabian Gulf.  At the Railroad CSX, I was in the chemicals marketing group which taught me about the US chemical and transportation businesses and infrastructure.  I was also a product manager at a great and growing medical device company, Exactech, which gave me a lot more knowledge of healthcare, manufacturing, and medical devices.
I also know a little bit about business education.  The Tulane Freeman School of Business is the fifth graduate business school I’ve been involved with – while in the Coast Guard I took some classes at Suffolk University, then I went to the full-time MBA at Duke’s Fuqua School, and I worked in graduate business admissions at the University of Florida and Manchester Business School prior to Tulane.
I really enjoy working with graduate business students.  I think that they are the best kind of people – smart, hardworking, curious, ambitious and looking to make a difference.  They are almost always positive, optimistic people who are enjoyable to talk with.  These positive traits are common among business students no matter where they are from in the world.  To spend time around students from all over the world who are optimistic, engaged and motivated to learn, is the type of job that anyone should enjoy.  It is nice to be part of the process of making good people great.
If you want to talk to me about any of Tulane’s excellent graduate business programs, I am just an email, pforan@tulane.edu, or phone call, 504-314-2485, away.
