Magazine Street

Located less than a mile away from Tulane, Magazine Street has some of the best shopping and restaurants the city of New Orleans has to offer.  Stretching 6 miles long with over 175 businesses that are mostly local to New Orleans, the well-known street offers a wide array of eclectic shopping and entertainment that appeal to both tourists and locals.  Having grown up in Atlanta where the shopping is tremendous, I didn’t have very high hopes that New Orleans would be able to match what I had grown accustomed too. However, since moving here I have been pleasantly surprised by what New Orleans has to offer. In 2012, Travel & Leisure declared that consumers had voted New Orleans as the 3rd best place in the U.S. for independent boutique shopping. Conveniently for Tulane students, the majority of these boutiques are located on Magazine. With clean streets and friendly people, Magazine Street offers a unique shopping and dining experience that is full of southern charm. Below are a few recommendations of places to stop by on Magazine that I particularly enjoy.

Below is a link to a blog about shopping in New Orleans that happens to have a post on Magazine Street. The blog is written by a local who just graduated from college and if you like a little humor, sarcasm, and shopping, you will enjoy this post… http://lushnola.com/2013/10/24/323/
