Closed Doors for the Sneauxday

A first for many in New Orleans—Tulane cancelled class due to inclement weather (read: CHANCE of snow flurries) on Tuesday, January 28th  and Wednesday, January 29th. Threat of dangerous roads aside, students hurriedly made plans for happy hours, Commander’s Palace, Chili Cook Offs, and Fat Harry’s. Minutes following Tulane’s announcement that it would be closed the following day, #sNOLA and #Sneauxday also became ubiquitous on social media.
After a weekend of closed interstates, icy bridges, and I-10 parking lots, New Orleans wasn’t taking any chances with Winter Storm Leon. Following in our footsteps, the University of Michigan closed campuses for the first time since 1978 on Tuesday (citing something about a -30 degree wind chill).
The University plans to make up missed classes in the coming weeks.
