TABA Launches New Chapter in Shanghai

More than 60 Shanghai-based alumni came together at the city’s Grand Swissotel on Jan. 9 to celebrate the launch of the Tulane Association of Business Alumni’s newest chapter. The Shanghai Chapter of TABA is the Freeman School’s first new international alumni association chapter in 20 years, and its establishment is a testament to the Freeman School’s growing presence in Asia. In recent years, the number of Freeman School alumni in the People’s Republic of China has grown to nearly 400, comprising a large, diverse group of business, government and community leaders. At the chartering ceremony, Associate Dean Peggy Babin discussed the significance of the new chapter and presented certificates to alumni in attendance recognizing their status as founding members. Babin also read a message from Dean Ira Solomon, who was unable to attend due to a previously scheduled event with Tulane President Michael A. Fitts.
