Per scheduling tradition, many full-time MBAs started their semester early and began an intensive Negotiations Course last Wednesday, January 8th. Lead by long-time student-favorite, Professor Angelo DeNisi, the Negotiations course is a mix of theory, tactic, demonstration, and mock negotiating among peers. The course counts as a dual elective for the Strategic Management and Marketing concentrations, and is primarily composed of 1st year MBAs. Performing approximately 5-6 negotiations a day, students learn valuable negotiation guidelines while identifying personal strengths and weaknesses in the process. Students worked on teams, as individuals, and sometimes as mediators to negotiate mergers, contracts, salaries, benefits, and even real estate transactions. As always, DeNisi’s down-to-earth teaching approach makes class both entertaining and beneficial.
