On Saturday, Oct. 16, hundreds of Tulane students, including members of Global Guides and the Krewe du Monde buddy program, volunteered at locations across New Orleans for Outreach Tulane, a campus-wide day of service and the oldest and largest community service event at Tulane.

The Krewe du Monde buddy program is a bridge for exchange students and local students in the A.B. Freeman School of Business.

Corinna Zengel, director of strategic partnerships for Global Guides, organized the Global Guides group for Outreach Tulane. “When I studied abroad, I met a lot of people through a community service day for the whole university,” she said. “I thought Outreach Tulane was a perfect opportunity to meet students while learning about the community.”

The group worked to restore the Couturie Forest Trail in New Orleans City Park. They shoveled, wheelbarrowed and spread mulch along established trails. It was a rewarding experience and a great way to get to know Tulane students inside and outside the Global Guides and the Krewe du Monde Buddy Program.

Outreach Tulane is just one of the many ways the Global Guides work to increase engagement between the Tulane student body and exchange students to create a globally aware community in the A.B. Freeman School of Business.
